      • zarex42 commented on Insurance Company Mails Out Postcards With SSNs

"It's pretty dumb, but the primary problem isn't that SSN's are shared - it's that something so easy to acquire as an SSN is used for anything requiring security."

      • zarex42 commented on Burger King Restaurants Angry Over $1 Burger Promo, File Lawsuit

"Dumb idea. The franchisees shouldn't be forced to participate in the promotion, and even though some customers will purchase higher-margin drinks because of it, plenty more will buy this instead of a whopper, etc. But it really should be up to the franchisee, who's $ is really on the line, whether to participate or not. Obviously none of us has read the contract, but it probably has a vague clause requiring them to participate in "promotions"; but a court can easily find that the clause is unenforceable if it's unreasonable or to their clear detriment. Good for them for fighting back."

"@ExtraCelestial: Yeah, it sucks, but going aggressively after things with extremely minuscule risks only makes sense from a PR standpoint, not a "reality" one."
